In the Old Testament,  the Levites referred to the descendants of the Tribe of Levi, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, who served as the religious functionaries and caretakers of the Tabernacle and later the Jerusalem Temple, performing essential support roles for the priests (Kohanim).

In CBC SPE, we refer to those serving in the Worship Ministry as “Levites” as the Church or People of God are now the Temple of the Holy Spirit under the New Covenant. The Levites / Worship Ministry plays a key role as willing servants to lead the followers of Jesus through singing praises and making music unto our Lord Jesus Christ during our Sunday Celebrations.
